ROUGEMONT, NC – Jared Fryar dominated the second half of Saturday night’s zMAX CARS Late Model Stock Tour race at Orange County Speedway to score the victory.
The win on Saturday was the fifth of Fryar’s CARS Late Model Stock Tour career, a career which includes championships in both series divisions. It is also the second win of the year for Fryar.
“It feels really good to come here and run this good with these CARS Tour guys that have been running all season,” Fryar told Short Track Scene after the race. “To run part time like we do and run like this, man, irt’s just super. It makes it that much more special in that much more honorable to win these races.”
Fryar picked up a win in a URA I-95 Showdown race at Southern National Motorsports Park back in March.
The first half of the race was dominated by Bahama, North Carolina driver Layne Riggs. Riggs took the lead from surprise pole sitter Tyler Reif on the opening lap, but faded in the closing laps of the race, finishing fourth.
Saturday’s race had major championship implications as the two top contenders, and the only two full-time drivers with wins on the tour in 2025, had problems. After starting 14th, Connor Hall was never able to recover from a lap five spin and had to settle for an 18th place finish. Meanwhile, Mini Tyrrell would get swept up in an accident on lap 84, ending his night.
Kade Brown finished in the second position while Kaden Honeycutt finished third, Riggs fourth, and Ronnie Bassett, Jr. in fifth.
