Track Enterprises to continue promoting Fairgrounds Nashville in 2025

Track Enterprises has reached an agreement to continue serving as promoter of Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in 2025.

The decision was made following the September 10 Fairgrounds Board of Commissioners meeting and was confirmed on Friday by chairman Jasper Hendricks.

“The Director of the Fairgrounds is doing a licensing agreement with Bob to continue racing until the Mayor signs proposal we submitted over a year ago,” Hendricks told Short Track Scene.

In other words, there is also a commitment to seeing through the agreement with Speedway Motorsports, which wants to bring NASCAR national touring events back to the speedway, but has yet to be signed by first year mayor Freddie O’Connell.

The deal, which was approved by the Fair Board, may need to be reworked, passed again, and go through the City Council before reaching O’Connell to get passed. In the meanwhile, Track Enterprises and president Bob Sargent will continue promoting the racing schedule at the historic downtown short track.

Sargent was even asked by Hendricks during the most recent meeting about his plans should the Speedway Motorsports deal become official partway through the 2025 season.

“It has been a question in my mind, and the racing community’ minds, as the Bristol thing has evolved,” Sargent said. “We’ve taken the approach that were going to go forward and continue our planning like they would work with us to (prolong) some construction to the end of our season.

“In the case that wouldn’t happen we would work with them, and fortunately we have a good relationship with them and have discussed a lot of this with them. Again, not being privy to a lot of the internal things we’re taking for granted that construction would take a bidding process, zoning and take quite a few months to evolve so with our schedule being scheduled to be done in 2025 in November.

“We would hope and ask that any construction would be scheduled after our season. That’s our plan right now to work with them on things of that nature.”
