North Carolina Race Team Owner Arrested on Sex Offender Violations

A team owner who participates in CARS Tour, Carolina Pro Late Models and the NASCAR Weekly Series was arrested for a sex offender violation in North Carolina.

Joel Richard Courage, who is known to operate E33 Motorsports, was arrested in Rowan County on August 24, 2023 on the charges of sex offender employment violations. Courage was previously convicted in February 2008 for 11 sex crimes with a minor in Sacramento, California. Rowan County opened an investigation and determined that Courage was supervising multiple minors through his race team.

Courage posted a 25,000 bail and released.

Rowan County passed the information along to several nearby counties that have race tracks where the team competes including Rowan

Per North Carolina statute G.S. 14-208.17(a):

It shall be unlawful for any person required to register under this Article to work for any person or as a sole proprietor, with or without compensation, at any place where a minor is present and the person’s responsibilities or activities would include instruction, supervision, or care of a minor or minors.
