Rain Cancels Southern Supers, Pros at Montgomery

For the second time in three weeks, Southern Super Series has been rained out from racing at Montgomery Motor Speedway and this time it postpones a Show Me Money Pro Late Model race too.

In fact, a second rainout will mean the likely cancellation of the Rumble by the River 125, based on the wording of a Southern Super Series release.

Sometimes you get the feeling that it just isn’t supposed to be. Such it is for the Rumble by the River at Montgomery Motor Speedway. After much deliberation, track promoter Stan Narrison, along with SSS officials, have made the tough decision to cancel the double header events scheduled for this weekend. The high probability of rain on Saturday and Sunday, factored in, as track and series officials did not want to chance having teams make a second trip to the Capital City with a high risk of of another cancellation. At this time, no reschedule date has been set. Those teams who were in attendance for the original April 15 date, have been rewarded 25 driver and owner championship points for their efforts.

Narrison was looking forward to having both showcase division at his track this weekend, but like the release states, it wasn’t meant to be.

“Cancelling this event is a heart breaker for us at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Personally, I really was looking forward to seeing Supers and our great Pro Late Model program running the same night,” said Narrison. “With the weather forecast being what it is, we wanted to be considerate to our teams and our fans”.

The ASA STARS National Tour will be up next on May 7th at Madison International Speedway, while the next SSS event will be in conjunction with yet another STARS event at the iconic North Wilkesboro Speedway on Tuesday Night, May 16th.
