The state of Michigan remains closed to spectator sporting events and the CRA Super Series has been forced to cancel the Battle at Berlin at Berlin Raceway scheduled for Saturday, August 15 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
That event was scheduled to be a championship points event for the ARCA/CRA Super Late Model Series, the JEGS CRA All-Star Pro Late Model Tour and the local Berlin Super Late Model division.
The track is located in Marne, Michigan.
“This is a very tough situation for us, our fans, sponsors and racers to endure,” Berlin Raceway president Mike Bursley said. “Last year’s 251 saw a great race and great car count and we were looking forwarded to seeing that expand even more this year. COVID-19 has really changed our world and its impact on our racing is undeniable.”
As a result of the cancelation, Anderson Speedway in Indiana has added a 125-lap event for Saturday, August 15. That will be the third CRA Super Series event of the season at the high banked quarter-mile following victories on June 20 by Cody Coughlin and Carson Hocevar’s Redbud 400 triumph on July 13.
“We always look forward to having events at Berlin Raceway,” R.J. Scott, CRA Managing Partner said. “We understand with the current restrictions in Michigan and in the area were the track is located, that it is not possible for them to host this great event this year. We look forward to working with Berlin to continue the Battle at Berlin 251 in 2021.
“We want to thank Rick Dawson for stepping up and adding another series event at Anderson Speedway and making it possible for our races to continue to be able to race during this tough time.”
