Howard scored first ASA win at Hickory

Colby Howard will be making his World Crown debut at Cordele Motor Speedway in next Saturday’s renewal.

Howard, who is a veteran in the NASCAR national ranks, has a win in the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour in 2025, a victory that came at Hickory Motor Speedway back in May.  Cordele, however, will be the first time he has competed in one of asphalt Super Late Model racing’s majors.

“It will be my first ‘crown jewel’ race so I’m really excited for that,” Howard told Short Track Scene.  “I’m not sure what 2026 looks like so being able to have a chance at a race like this at the end of the year can be big for me.”

Howard enters the World Crown with plenty of confidence after finishing in the runner-up position during Speedfest at Cordele back in February.  However, Howard has not been back at Cordele since to compete in Super Fest, but he praised the program.

“We ran second in Speed Fest in the beginning of the year, so I feel like we will have a good car capable of running up front and contending for the win,” Howard said.  “I haven’t raced any of the Super Fest races but I kept up with it on social media.  I think what Cordele and the Nolands are doing with it is great.  It’s a very good incentive for all the racers involved.”

Howard’s win at Hickory also adds to his optimism heading into Georgia next weekend.

“Our Hickory win definitely helps our confidence,” Howard stated.  “We have struggled a little bit through the summer after that, but hopefully we can get our speed back for the World Crown.”

The World Crown 300, which is sanctioned by the ASA Southern Super Series, will commence on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
