The 2021 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will feature 14 races across six states, from Maine to Virginia.
It includes a mix of historic Tour Type Modified staples, albeit without one, and also fewer trips down south.
The 2021 season will open at Martinsville Speedway on Thursday, April 8, as part of the NASCAR Cup Series weekend. It will conclude with the traditional Fall Final race weekend at Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway.
That means the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will officially no longer participate in the World Series at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park with the track moving to replace tour races with open modified events instead.
The series will also race alongside the NASCAR Cup Series at Virginia’s Richmond Raceway on Sept. 10 and New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 17.
The Modified Tour will also visit Riverhead Raceway on Long Island on three different occasions: May 15, June 19 and Sept. 18. The quarter-mile bullring has hosted 64 tour races since 1985 but was unable to in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The series will make its first appearance at New York International Raceway in Lancaster, New York on July 31, while returning to Oswego Speedway for a pair of races on June 12 and Sept. 4. New York International is the former Lancaster Speedway.
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, will host the Whelen Modified Tour for the first time since 2005 with an Aug. 21 event. Pennsylvania’s Jennerstown Speedway, which returned to the schedule last year and had two events, will bring the tour back on May 29.
