Connor Hall set out to make an immediate statement at Larry
King Law’s Langley Speedway in 2019 and achieved that goal with a 100-lap
opening night victory on Saturday.
But the path to victory lane was not without controversy.
The race was perhaps decided on a Lap 45 restart when leader
C.E. Falk spun under Hall off the exit of Turn 2. There was ever so light
contact between the two but a ‘right rear’ was enough to send the reigning
Martinsville 300 winner around.
Hall had only gotten to the outside of Falk for the restart
because he selected the outside via the choose cone after Falk. Terry Carroll
and Brendan Queen followed Falk to the bottom and Hall was the first to elect
the outside.
Falk worked his way back to second but an intense battle between
himself, Queen and Greg Edwards allowed Hall to jet away with a victory in the
season opener.
“It was a really good opening night,” Hall said in
victory lane. “To be able to just get revenge on last year. I really feel
bad about what happened between C.E. and I, but I knew it was going to come
down between the two of us, I really hate that we didn’t get to race it
out.”
As for the incident between himself and Falk:
“I don’t know if he was kind of checking up a little
bit to make sure Greg and I stayed side by side until he could get a chance to
go,” he said. “But I apologize to the whole 02 team. I never like
winning one that way but at the same time I am sure he has made an accident in
his career too.”
Queen rallied back to second with Greg Edwards locking Falk
out of a podium.
The only other notable incident occurred on Lap 62 when
Justin Carroll dropped his exhaust on the track, eliciting a caution, that
actually allowed Falk to get back inside the top-10 following his spin.

Watched that on Fan’s Choice TV. The K&N race at Irwindale on Fan’s Choice? Deliberately poor choice of camera shots the entire stream. Unwatchable.

I never expected FansChoice.tv to offer NBCSN programming for free, yet they did. Just not in a way we could enjoy. Recognize the politics involved.
I do, and I appreciate when I can purchase and watch a live stream of a race. This policy dictated by NASCAR and implemented by FansChoice.tv did not make some track owners happy.
Free or paid, it doesn’t matter to me. I pay to watch streams of races and I expect to pay. An inferior product is inferior regardless of the price tag.
Did you really watch Irwindale Saturday night? That was Irwindale’s thumb in the eye of NASCAR Home Tracks and their FansChoice.tv decision earlier in the year.
This was the first race FansChoice.tv has ever streamed that was unwatchable in their history. It was. And it is not wrong to say it was.

I’m not angry. In fact, I appreciate the dialogue. Trust me, I’m not angry.
I do think you’re not giving them the benefit of the doubt. I had a conversation with NASCAR’s Jeremy Wallace last week about their plans for FansChoice. I can promise you that it’s only going to get better.
And yes, I watched Irwindale, and yes, the audio issues at the start were annoying. But they fixed it, and I feel confident that they’ll will continue to make it better.
