The crossed flags signal has been displayed to the competitors of the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series, and this weekend the series’ superstars will race into the second half of the 2024 season. A return trip to Petty International Raceway to battle for the $4000 winner prize has drawn another stout field of competitors ready for action.

Nineteen (19) competitors have signaled their intentions to do battle on the high banks of the River Glade, New Brunswick track. The first trip to Petty in May was an instant classic – and with close points battles all throughout the field, the second stop is poised to raise the bar. It is sure to be a dynamic duel under the lights on Sunday July 7th when the green flag drops!

SUPER SIX Super Late Model Series Storylines

Seven Drivers Marred in Midpack Melee in Standings

Reaching the midpoint of the 2024 championship chase, any full-time driver still has hopes of chasing the championship.

When it comes to point standings, fourth through tenth features an absolute war between many of the series’ perennial drivers.

Fourth, fifth, and sixth is a battle that could be seen at any Saturday night feature at Speedway 660 over the last two decades between a trio that combined for twelve track Pro Stock championships. Greg Fahey (#20) sits fourth in points on the heels of a pair of heat wins and three top ten finishes, just one point ahead of Dave O’Blenis (#48). O’Blenis has notched a trio of top ten finishes to his credit as well. Lonnie Sommerville has been one of the top drivers over the past two races, spending much of each race in the top five after a frustrating season opener. While Sommerville wishes he could have that race back, these last two races have rocked the #23 up to sixth in standings, with no signs of slowing down.

Four points separate fourth through sixth, but just mere points continues to be the difference continuing through the ranks. Darren MacKinnon (#18) cracked well inside the top ten after his impressive runner-up finish at Oyster Bed Speedway. He leap frogged two drivers who had dismal runs at Oyster Bed Speedway despite high hopes in Ryan Messer (#1) and Hudson Weston (#43). Two points behind Weston, and rounding out the top ten, is Kent Vincent (#8) who, after a fourth place finish at Petty, has struggled to finish out the last two races despite showing great speed.

There’s battles all throughout the standings, and as the sand in the bottom of the hourglass begins to outweigh the top, they will surely be worth paying attention to – especially the battle from fourth to tenth.

Robbie MacEwen Looking To Make Championship Battle a Three Horse Race

How many Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series races has Robbie MacEwen (#40) finished in the top ten in? All of them.

However, these consistent top ten finishes have yet to translate into a win. Consistency has paid off in many ways for Robbie MacEwen, but it’s always been one step below whomever is atop of the point standings.

On paper MacEwen has scored more points through three events compared with one season ago – but Ashton Tucker (#2) and Cory Hall (#83) have been absolutely dominant, combining to score every feature win while each capturing a podium finish in all three events. MacEwen joined the dynamic duo on the podium last time at Petty – which came during May’s Fog City Auto Spa 150.

While the top two are separated by just two (2) points, MacEwen sees an eighteen (18) point mountain ahead – a mountain he is eager to tackle beginning this weekend on Petty International Raceway’s high banks!

Dustin Tucker Searching High and Low For Luck

It’s been a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time for Dustin Tucker (#52), time and time again in 2024.

Rallying from a shotgun starting position to race his way into the top 5 back in May, Tucker saw his final result drop outside the top ten after being involved in an incident coming off turn four to the checkers. After a quiet top ten at Speedway 660, Tucker saw his race get cut short when he received body damage when he was tagged by a spinning Kent Vincent (#8) at Oyster Bed Speedway, which ultimately led to a tire rub.

Tucker has contended for wins and podiums many times, but doesn’t have anything to show for it yet. It can be argued as a toss up as to which track is his best, but there’s no doubt he has strength and admiration for Petty and is eager to propel the #52 team into a strong stretch run to the season.

Brodie Lewis Elevating Program With New-to-Him Car

It was a career best finish for Brodie Lewis (#22) the last time the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series raced at Petty International Raceway. Hopes are high for repeated success this go round as he will enter the race with a new-to-him car!

Lewis purchased the former Allison MacKinnon (#07) car, an upgrade he hopes will translate to increased speed and performance. Early test sessions at his home track of Oyster Bed Speedway have proven successful thus far with promising results, but the first real test will arrive Saturday during the Old Fashion Meat Market 150 at Petty International Raceway!

Curtis Collins Showing Consistency As He Looks For Petty Redemption

The lone full-time Rookie of the Year competitor for the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series is locked and loaded on securing his first career top ten finish – and has he ever been close!

Curtis Collins (#27) has posted back-to-back twelfth place finishes in Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series competition. One came at his home track of Speedway 660, followed up by a respectable run in his debut at Oyster Bed Speedway. For Collins, Petty International Raceway is a track he is ready for a redeeming run at – because at the Fog City Auto Spa 150, he fell victim to a broken panhard bar which resulted in a DNF.

Compared to last season, Collins has scored more points than any of the rookie in series history through three events – but this driver and team are ready to keep digging for more heading into the second half of the season!

First Appearances of 2024 For A Number of Competitors

Fans will get to see a number of familiar faces and familiar cars return to the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series for the first time in 2024 during the Old Fashion Meat Market 150 this weekend.

Devin Snell (#10) is one of those drivers – and is the only one with a feature win to his credit thus far in the season after walking away with a Re/Max East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock division feature at Speedway 660 a few weeks ago. Snell had intentions on competing at previous races, but was unable to make the call. With early season speed and success, Snell enters with great confidence on his side.

Speaking of confidence, Mike Rodgers (#41) is basking in it. Rodgers scored a top ten in his lone Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series start in 2023, but he has been a perennial contender on the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour in 2024, leading laps and nearly winning features. With Petty International Raceway being his home track, he could spoil the party this weekend.

There is always excitement when Canada’s Ironman joins the field, and this weekend marks the first scheduled Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series start for Gary Elliott (#36).
