Stephen Nasse captures Speedfest pole

Mr. Excitement will lead the field to green on Saturday afternoon in the Peach State …

The track got faster as the sun set but no one got any quicker than Stephen Nasse on Friday night during qualifying for CRA Speedfest at Watermelon Capital Speedway.

It was a remarkable lap because Nasse was visibly fighting his car in Turns 3 and 4 and was just the fifth driver to take his two timed laps. The track got quicker as the temperature dropped but Nasse’s time held firm, even as the likes of Kyle Busch, Bubba Pollard, Chandler Smith and Casey Roderick all took their respective shots at the 15.765 second lap.

Nasse’s time held true.

The 23-year-old from Pinellas Park, Florida is still looking for his first victory in this event. The only incident of note from qualifying is that Tate Fogleman spun coming to his warm-up lap and posted just the 23rd fastest lap after scrubbing his tires.

A total of 28 drivers took a timed lap and the difference between the fastest and slowest times was 1.3 seconds.
Racing begins at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday with Bandoleros preceding the Pro Late Models and Super Late Models. The entire event can be wacthed via a $24.99 Speed51.com PPV.
