Fresh off one the season’s most exciting races at Autodrome Chaudiere, the NASCAR Pinty’s Series will make its return to the road courses as it takes on Exhibition Place in Toronto.

Marking the second road course race of 2019, as well as the first street circuit of the season, the Pinty’s Series drivers are eager to get back on track. This race also marks the first time General Tires will be used on a street course, following its debut on ovals and road courses this season.

Kevin Lacroix moved into the points leads by a slim margin of one point over Andrew Ranger after a strong run at Chaudiere.

Last year Alex Tagliani dominated the race, starting from pole and leading all 35 scheduled laps. However, a late caution set up a NASCAR Overtime finish where Andrew Ranger pounced and scored his third win in five starts at the track.

What to Watch For:

In the Pinty’s Grand Prix of Toronto’s short five-year history it has only seen three different winners. Those three drivers – Kevin Lacroix, Andrew Ranger and Alex Tagliani – also are the current top three in the points standings. Ranger won in 2010, 2011 and 2018, Lacroix in 2017 and Tagliani in 2016. Tagliani is also the only driver in the paddock who has run laps in the NTT IndyCar Series at Toronto.

We also welcome back a few road course ringers to the series this week. Peter and Gary Klutt will return to the series following their pair of impressive runs at CTMP. A third place for son Gary and a sixth place for father Peter. J.F. Laberge and J.F. Dumoulin return to their cars at Dumoulin Competition, in the No.91 and No. 04 respectively.

With the return of the road course this week, it gives a few drivers a chance to pick up some points. Series Veteran Anthony Simone has a had a rough first three races, however the driver of the No. 1 Dodge has always shown speed at Toronto and will look get to victory lane for the first time in his career. Also looking for a strong road course run is Marc-Antoine Camirand. In 2017, Camirand was in position to win before a late race crash took him out of the race. Look for the No. 22 to be competitive come the drop of the green flag.

Looking forward to the 3 NASCAR tours on a street course weekend. Sigh.
