Mini returns to Carteret with momentum

After picking up his first win of the 2018 season in his first appearance at his home track of Shenandoah Speedway just two weeks ago, Mini Tyrrell is heading back to Carteret County Speedway looking for his first win on the Crystal Coast.

Mini has spent this season primarily racing at Carteret County Speedway but despite some strong runs and being in contention for the win, he’s been kept out of victory lane. He comes into this weekend’s Davey Allison Memorial 280 with a lot of momentum including the Shenandoah win and three straight second-place finishes at Carteret.

The Allison Memorial will be a pair of 50-lap races for the Late Model Stocks.

“We’ve been on a roll here lately,” said Mini. “We’ve had a great car in every race lately and finally closing the deal at Shenandoah after finishing second three times at Carteret gives us a lot of confidence heading into this weekend.”

In addition to running the races, Mini will also get the pleasure of meeting two NASCAR legends as NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison and former Cup Series crew chief and NASCAR on FOX analyst Larry McReynolds will be in attendance for the Davey Allison Memorial event.

“It’ll be really cool to get to meet Bobby Allison and Larry McReynolds this weekend. Two greats of NASCAR racing and it will be special if we’re able to get a win in front of them on a night honoring Davey.”

Mini and his team will be looking for their first win at Carteret County Speedway. Mini has won in a Late Model at Shenandoah Speedway and he also won the Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Motorsports Park last November. Carteret has been a challenge for Mini despite leading laps and coming close to winning, he’s still searching for a trophy on the Crystal Coast.

“It’d be great to get a win at Carteret,” continued Mini. “The competition there is so tough. The track there is so tough. It’s just a place where when you win, you know you’ve earned it because of what it takes to get a win there.”
