Anthony Alfredo enters Langley with SBR

As Langley Speedway prepares to open its gates for a new season, many drivers are using Saturday’s season opener to gain experience for the April 19th Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, but one driver will be using it to prepare for the upcoming K&N Pro Series East Race.

MDM Motorsports K&N East driver Anthony Alfredo, has teamed up with Sellers-Burton Racing and will be taking on almost 4/10ths of a mile oval for the first time.

In 2017, Alfredo won two races on the CARS Late Model Stock tour, en route to a second-place finish in the championship standings behind JR Motorsports teammate Josh Berry.

“Basically, the deal came together through MDM since they have some connections, and Robert and Landon Huffman kind of helped MDM get me in contact with them (SBR) and it happened to work out,” Alfredo told Short Track Scene. “The timing and everything, being their opening weekend and before the K&N race there worked out to help me better prepare since I have never been to Langley.”

Alfredo also says that the long break between the K&N opener at New Smyrna and the next scheduled event at Bristol played a part into his wanting to race at Langley this weekend.

“We have had this big break since New Smyrna, so not only is it good for me to get a race in but also for me to get some experience because we know Langley is a tricky track and we want to be able to show up and be able to be good off the truck and have some knowledge beforehand,” Alfredo said.

Alfredo, the 2016 Southeast Limited Late Model Champion has only seen two of the remaining tracks on the K&N East schedule prior, with South Boston and Bristol being those tracks, both in a Late Model Stock last season.

“Anywhere that is new to me, if we can go get me some seat time and a little bit of experience beforehand it will help a lot, just knowing how to get around there and how to race the track rather than just making laps will be beneficial,” Alfredo added.

For now, Alfredo has no plans for any additional Late Model races but says he is open to other appearances this season, while also pursuing a chance to run a few ARCA or Camping World Truck Series races in 2018.

Alfredo will be hoping to celebrate his birthday, which happens to be this coming Saturday in style at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway, hopefully parking his No. 4 Sellers-Burton Racing entry in Victory Lane.
