There are a pair of non NASCAR Martinsville short track events to watch on Saturday if the Camping World Truck Series doesn’t tickle your fancy.

One is a Late Model Stock Car race in North Carolina and the other is a Tour Type Modified showdown in Connecticut.

Rodney Cook Classic at Ace Speedway

The annual memorial race at Ace Speedway had a tremendous showing of Late Model Stocks earlier this month before rain canceled it to this weekend. There’s no reason to think the same turnout won’t return with most weekly tracks already closed for the off-season.

Expected drivers are Martinsville winner Timothy Peters, Peyton Sellers, RD Smith and Anthony Alfredo. In all, over 30 Late Model Stocks are expected to make the trip to Altamahaw, North Carolina. 602 limiteds, Bowman-Gray “Madhouse” style modifieds, southern ground pounders are also on the schedule.

Haunted Hundred at Seekonk Speedway

The Haunted Hundred at Seekonk Speedway is a 100-lap race under the Tri-Track Open Modified Series rules. It’s the fourth and final race on the schedule and will count towards the point fund standings.

Expected names on the entry list are Ryan Preece, Matt Hirschman, Rowan Pennink and Chris Pasteryak.

There is also a bounty on Hirschman in this race.

Any competitor who beats Hirschman and wins the race will receive a $1,500 bonus (but Hirschman also has to be on the lead lap).  If Hirschman out-duels the competition yet again, he will take home the $1,500 bonus.
