Cassie Fambro | STS

Patrick Emerling earned his third career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour pole on Wednesday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Emerling paced the Tennessee half-mile with a time of 14.517 seconds (132.176 mph) in time trial and will start from the top spot in the Bush’s Beans 150. The pole was his first since Thompson in October 2015 and was his first at Thunder Valley.

“We unloaded with a great car today and we tuned it in pretty good today in practice,” Emerling said. “We didn’t take much practice, we knew we had speed.”

Behind Emerling, Chase Dowling put a new pairing on the front row for the Bush’s Beans 150. Dowling will be driving for Eddie Harvey on Wednesday and he put the Dunleavy Truck and Trailer Repair Chevrolet second in qualifying with a fast time of 14.542 seconds (131.949 mph).

Rookie Ronnie Williams was the third fastest in qualifying. Williams ran a fast lap of 14.578 seconds. Justin Bonsignore was fourth, while defending winer Eric Goodale completed the top-5. The rest of the top-10 featured Bobby Santos, Ryan Preece, Timmy Solomito, Doug Coby and Dave Sapienza.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track with the running of the Bush’s Beans 150 at 6:05 p.m. ET Wednesday evening.
