Erik Jones has already enjoyed an eventful week after signing a full-time deal to compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with Furnitire Row Racing in 2017.

Despite having a Xfinity Series standalone event to prepare for this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car course, the reigning Truck Series champion and current NXS top seed has decided to run the CRA Super Late Model race at Kalamazoo Speedway …

And naturally, he set fast time.

Jones paced the 3/8-mile Michigan short track with a 12.723 lap with his No. 20 Toyota branded Super Late Model. It was enough to pace the 19-car field that also includes some of the most notable names in Midwestern Late Model racing.

Jones has won in both of his CRA starts this season — at the Battle at Berlin 251 and the Circle City 100 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana. Cody Coughlin entered the event with a 15-point championship lead over Dalton Armstrong and they will start seventh and fifth respectively.

The 125-lap feature is the prelude to the Outlaw Late Model Kalamazoo Klash which will main event the night with a 125-lap feature. The complete qualifying results from the CRA race can be found below.

The event does have a live Pay-Per-View broadcast via Speed51’s 51TV service. It can be purchased via this link.
